Snakes and Phase 10 and blogspot.com

So this morning, we awoke to the dogs barking at 10:30a.m. which is waaaaay before my alarm goes off. I naturally assumed there was someone in the driveway which is usually what arouses their attention, but when Jody noticed they were under our bedroom window, he correctly assumed it was a snake. Here are the events as they happened:

>Jody went outside and confirmed his suspicions that it was a snake. After watching it strike at the dogs a few times, he called the dogs away and I set to work, looking up the species of our reptile friend to assess its poision-ness...and found it was a black rat snake. Not venomous.
>Jody went back around the house and saw the snake was trying to crawl under the house. He grabbed his shovel and pulled it back from the house and pinned his (or her) head down so it couldn't go anywhere.
>He wanted to kill it because he was afraid it would go into the house (and afraid in general) but I (being Miss Save God's Creatures, like my mom always called me) made him stop.
>I told him to grab it by the neck right behind its head. He did. So, it being the first time he had ever EVER touched a snake, I had to grab the camera.

I don't know which to look at? The snake or his chest buttons?

               That little guy is loooooong.

What to do now? W.W.S.I.D.? What Would Steve Irwin Do?
A: Put it in a pillowcase, of course.
So, that's what we did.

He had to put on a shirt.

We had to get ready so I sat the snake pillow in the living room floor and let Pepper play with it. After we got dressed, we decided that since the Obion River in about a mile from the house, we would take it there.

"I got your butt in that one."

                                   "Snaaake! Ruuuuuuun!!!!!!!"

                                              "I had to zoom in."

So, little Fluffy has a new home and hopefully he wont come back. Good riddance.

After our little adventure with the Obion Co. wilderness, we had lunch at Wendy's. I had those new boneless wings. They are delish. (See how cool and mod I am? I use word like delish and fabulous and dance around the gym while some lame techno music plays in the background like, 'unn tss, unn tss, unn tss, unn tss'.)

After lunch was finished, we headed to my parents' to pick up Hanner Man. We decided to go swimming at my Grandmother's house and I invited Josh and Em. We swam for a while then went back to Mom & Dad's for burgers and hot dogs. I was really proud of my mom for letting Em hold Hanner and for inviting everyone over to eat. She isn't usually that hospitable

Upon leaving my parent's house, we went to Josh & Em's to play Phase 10. I have never played and am not very fond of card games, but I gave it a shot. Needless to say, I didn't win. Em got all her phases and only had like 100 pts. I was 4th. Josh came in 3rd. Jody was at 2nd and Em won 1st. I am not very competitive at cards so I obviously didn't care. I just played to keep them happy. No one likes playing trivia games anymore. Sad day.

Transformers Dos: la venganza de los caidos

So, I saw the new Transformers movie AND drumroll please...I liked it. Despite reviews of it being too long or tedious or repetitive or Megan Fox (I swear I Googled "can't act" and this is what I got) sucking serious robot grease, I thought it was cool for the explosions and I am always fascinated by new robots especially if they are nano

Man this blog thing is harder than I thought. Thanks for misleading me again, Liz

So, I read Liz's blog post today and, if you have never had a friend chronicle a conversation you had earlier in the week on her blog, then you read it later in the week, let me tell you, it is worth it. Postponing the reliving of conversations until they can be blogged is a very rewarding experience. In fact, I think all conversations should take place on blogs. I think thing are funnier in writing

Uh-oh. I made a political joke.

Speaking of politics, I am officially broke. We have $1,098 in bills each month, not counting our credit cards and only have $1,200 coming in each month. We are making it ok. After having a long conversation with my mom today about sacrifice and family priorities, we both started crying then my dad walked in the door. Hopefully, Jody can find some work for cash and I can get a yob. Though I hope to start substitute teaching in August, that's more than a month away.

Hanner had his six month pictures today. The "studio" was in a woman's house, in Dresden. It was small and not exactly professional, but I have seen her work before and it is respectable. It is definitely cheaper than Matlock's.

I am watching Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and it really puts things into perspective.  Blogs can't always be humorous
